These are the skills I recommend taking as a Stoic.

Note that neither of these stop delayed damage though - only using the flask or waiting 4 seconds without taking damage will. The Hostage Taker skill causes it to regenerate slowly over time, and first aid kits regenerate it to full immediately. Lastly, the green circle that the Stoic cares so much about is health. The flask has a 10 second cooldown between uses, which can be reduced by killing enemies. Sometimes fully, sometimes less it depends on how much damage you're waiting to take. When used, the green circle immediately stops depleting and regenerates itself. And so Stoic gets an exclusive throwable, the Stoic's Hip Flask. Of course, it would be pointless if Stoic was just a worse version of armor with the ability to die to itself. You can even go down if the green circle depletes itself completely, even though the enemies' bullets aren't hitting you! With Stoic, the same thing happens to the green circle, but the green circle continues to deplete while you're waiting for the regeneration to kick in. With regular armor, if you stay out of fire for a few seconds, the white circle regenerates. Suppose you've been hit, and run to cover. The main difference between Stoic and armor is how that circle regenerates. In fact Stoic doesn't have a white circle at all, so armor regeneration or armor break skills are useless on it. For an armor perk deck, the thin white circle is what counts, while for Stoic, you look at the thick green circle. When it's empty or nearly empty, you should get into cover and wait for it to regenerate. When it's full, you are at maximum performance: enemies have to shoot their way through the entire ring to bring you down. The circle in the bottom right corner of the screen represents how ready you are to fight. You will be in an ICTV (so expect low speed/stamina/concealment), and you can take a lot of hits from regular enemies, even Snipers, reliably.
